The American company started operations in a modern plant in the municipality of Juarez employing 160 people.

The American Company Crown started operation in a modern plant that will reach a production capacity of up to 2.300 million aluminum cans per year, to serve the needs of its main client the brewer company Heineken Mexico.

At the opening, Samuel Pena Guzman, undersecretary of Investment and Industrial Promotion from the Ministry of Economy and Labor in Nuevo Leon, said that the total investment that Crown will have in this entity is of 120 million dollars in two production lines.

“For us, this new Crown investment is a very emblematic company, precisely what they manufacture has many customers, we are major beer consumers and I think it is an emblematic company which has make us feel proud,” said the state official.

“There is an entire industrial tradition in our State, which has diversify; however, the traditional sectors such as the food, beer, metallurgical, as in the concrete case of this can production plant, continues to be anchor companies which are helping us to expand operations that are already here and they continue to attract new investments,” he added.

This company’s high directives and state officials opened the first stage of this plant, which is located in the municipality of Juarez.  The initial investment was of 75 million dollars; however, it is ready for the installation of a second production line, to which will be addressed 45 million dollars.

Regarding the State’s growth, Pena Guzman said that: “Nuevo Leon has first place in foreign investment, I say that proudly, we approximately have 3,400 foreign companies located here in the State, mainly from the United States, nevertheless the investment from Korea, Japan and China has been growing.”

Timothy J. Donahue, president and CEO of Crown, commented that it is expected to gain bit opportunities in the beer cans market, because they are suppliers for Heineken.  In addition, he added that with this plant they expect to generate 160 direct and 450 indirect jobs.

At the same time, Dolf Van den Brink, CEO of Heineken Mexico, said:  “It is an honor to accompany Crown on its new aluminum cans plant, as this company has a strategic position at a regional and global level.”

“We believe that Crowns guarantees cans and caps are of quality and provide value to our brands, by innovation, quality and sustainability,” added CEO Heineken, who clear that Crown has 125 years investing in new technologies.

And added that “Crown, like us in Heineken have decided to bet on Mexico, for this great country full of young passionate people, with a growing and promising market.”

At this plant opening were present Timothy J. Donahue, president of the board of directors from Crown; Dolf Van den Brink, CEO of Heineken Mexico; Abel Coello, president of Crown Mexico and the Caribbean; Gilberto Perez, plant manager at Crown in Monterrey, and Heriberto Trevino, mayor of the municipality of Juarez, Nuevo Leon.




In 1892 William Painter proposed to improve the bottling of carbonated beverages and beer aiming to make consumers experience pleasant and that was how the Crown company was founded, which throughout 125 years has been focused in offering an innovative and of high quality product.

Currently, the American company has operations in 146 plants and provides jobs to 24,000 people.

Worldwide Crown fulfills different products among which highlight spray packages, beverages, food and diversified products.

In America the company has achieved major sales 3.4 billion dollars, have 7,000 employees, 49 plants and presence in eight countries.

While in Europe it has 12,000 workers, 63 plants and has presence in 26 countries.

Likewise, the company has 31 plants in his Asia Pacific division, which use more than 4,000 people and generates sales above 1.2 billion dollars.  In addition, it has two technological centers located in Alsip, Illinois and Wantage, UK.



The American company, known in Mexican territory as Crown Mexico, has eight plants in the country located in the state of Nuevo Leon, two in Veracruz, two in Estado de Mexico, one in Jalisco and one in Baja California and son another plant will be opened in Chihuahua in 2017.


Plants are located in the State of Nuevo Leon are mainly dedicated to the elaboration of vacuum metal closures, metal closures, hermetic closure and aluminum cans for beverages.  While the other plants in the country are focused in the cans manufacture for beverage, aerosol, food, paints, glass bottles and silica sand.
