The Linkage University-Company Council, from the Employers Confederation of the Mexican Republic (COPARMEX, by its Spanish initials) Coahuila Southeast, held as each year the granting of the Innovation Award, honoring the best scientific and technological projects in the categories of product, service, and process.
Participating projects had as an objective to satisfy the needs of the region, focused on the aforementioned areas and that was directed to innovation, systematically using knowledge and research focused on the production of materials, devices, systems, methods, design, development and processes improvement, products and services.
In the contest participated about 130 students at University Higher Technician (TSU, by its Spanish initials) level, bachelor’s degree and engineering of the educational institutions members of the Linkage University-Company Council Coahuila Southeast, such as the Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey Campus Saltillo (ITESM,) Instituto Tecnologico de Saltillo (ITS,) the Universidad La Salle (ULSA,) Universidad Autonoma del Noreste (UANE,) Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila (UAdeC,) Universidad Tecnologica de Saltillo (UTS) and Universidad Tecnologica de Coahuila (UTC,) among others.
The Innovation Award 2019 was celebrated at the facilities of the Center of Innovation and Linkage of the Instituto Tecnologico de Saltillo and the researchers and professors of companies and universities that integrate this organism were in charge of assessing the works presented by 39 teams.
Within the product’s category, the first position was granted to the Cerradura Inalambrica (wireless lock,) presented by students of the UTC. The second position was held by the Recicab project, from Tec Saltillo and the third place was for Blue Planet, also from UTC.
Meanwhile in the service category students from UAdeC were awarded, whose project was called Physcis LZ, and the second place was for Impresion de Protesis 3D (prosthetic 3D printing) from the ULSA.
Finally, in the process category, the award was for the Nanocristales de Celulosa (Cellulose Nanocrystals) project presented by UANE, CIQA, and the Stockholm University, while the second place was for the project Nitruracion de Limas Dentales (Nitriding of Dental Files) elaborated by ITS students.
The winners were granted with 5,000 pesos to continue their projects, while the second place of each category obtained an academic scholarship of 40 hours on an English course and the third place of the Product category gain a scholarship at ITESM Campus Saltillo to participate in the area of innovative entrepreneurship.
