1,800 jobs will be created on its first stage

TPI Composites is the largest manufacturer of wind turbines based in the United States and will soon arrive to the city of Matamoros generating 1,800 jobs in its first phase.

In Tamaulipas there are at least 3 projects already for the creation of wind farms, one of them will be installed in Matamoros and will be functioning in early 2018.

The project proposes the opening of the 6 long-term production lines, but in its first phase they will start with two production lines, generating 1,800 jobs.

The U.S. company will be manufacturing sheets from two production lines for the V136wind turbine, which will be addressed to the markets of Central and South America; the blades will be produced in Matamoros.

The new factory will have a land area of 50,000 square meters, of which 22 hectares of land will be destined for the construction of the plant; it will be just 15 miles from the port of Brownsville

“Apparently they have chosen las Ventanas Park to install TPI Composites, it is an important project that will have an investment of approximately 30 million dollars,” said Arturo Gomez Ibarra, Secretary of Economic Development and Employment in Matamoros, Tam.

TPI Composites decided to settle in the border city of Matamoros, due to its strategic geographical area. “They need to use land transportation, as well as rail and shipping, which will be provided with the new operations of the port of Matamoros, everything needs to be transported on different routes, because they will supply not only Mexico, but also America Central and South,” said the Secretary of Economic Development and Employment in Matamoros, Tam., Arturo Gomez Ibarra.

TPI is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona and operates factories in the U.S, China, Mexico and Turkey. TPI has been producing blades in Mexico since 2002 and is currently producing blades at three facilities in Ciudad Juarez.
