Altamira consolidates its development potential through investments
In Altamira, Tamaulipas was held the departure of the oil platform PB Abkatun A2, the largest oil structure completely built in Mexico. It is a platform for shallows, completely built in Tamaulipas soil for Petroleos Mexicanos, the work was done with last generation technology and world-class standards and lasted 2 years and 4 months.
454 million dollars were invested and it will operate in the oil fields from the State productive company at the Campeche Prove in the Gulf of Mexico. The platform is designed to process a maximum of 220 thousand barrels of oil per day and 352 million cubic feet of gas per day; for its build were generated 2,600 jobs, this kind of projects consolidate Altamira’s development potential through investments.
The Oil Platform PB-Abkatun-A2 was concluded
Jose Carlos Rodriguez Montemayor, general director of the Altamira Port Authority, together with Francisco Javier Cabeza de Vaca, governor of Tamaulipas, as well as Ismael Cabeza de Vaca, senator; Alma Laura Amparan, mayor of Altamira, directives and personnel from the company McDermott were present at the ceremony of the largest oil platform project conclusion built in Mexico in the last 10 years and unique on its type, completely manufactured in our country at the Port of Altamira.
PB-ABKATUN-A2 was made with national workforce and built by the American company McDermott; this shows the confidence of investors in the State, mainly in the energy sector.
The departure ceremony was presided by the governor Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vaca and the general director of McDermott Mexico, Alfredo Carvallo; together with the mayor of Altamira, Alma Laura Amparan Cruz and the director of the Altamira Port Authority, Jose Carlos Rodriguez Montemayor.

In addition, he enlisted the advantages for investment in Tamaulipas, among which was underlined the national leadership in energy matters, the proximity to the North American oil market, growing infrastructure, communication means, qualified and specialized workforce availability, in addition of the institutional collaboration between the Federal and State Government.
The oil platform PB-ABKATUN-A2 was completely
manufactured in the assembly yard and shipment port of the company McDermott,
engineering solutions, construction and installation supplier for the energy
industry which has been operating for 10 years in Altamira and 38 in Mexico,
which constitutes the base of the company to serve the requirements of energy
infrastructure of the Mexican market, American Continent and Western Europe.
