The Swiss firm Oerlikon Balzers, leader in surface protection, reasserted their confidence in certainty conditions to grow offered by Queretaro, by opening a second plant in the entity of 80 million pesos.

 

With this opening, the state of Queretaro houses two of the three plants Oerlikon Balzers has in the country and offers solutions against surfaces wear of automotive sector, aeronautic, food and metal-mechanic.

 

It is the first PPD technology plant in Latin America, second in the American Continent and the fifth worldwide.

 

Through this investment, Switzerland confirmed its position as an economically in the state, as last year Queretaro allocated as third national receptor of Swiss investments, registering 46.4 million dollars, according to figures from the Ministry of Economy (SE, by its Spanish initials.)

 

Marc Desrayaud, president of Oerlikon Balzers Soluciones Industriales Business Unit, recognized the work of the State Government and confirmed their confidence in its people’s professionalism and in economic development of Mexico and Queretaro.

 

He explained that environmental protection is very important for Oerlikon Balzers, therefore their production processes and products are highly ecologic.

 

“Mexico is a very important country within Oerlikon Balzers global network, we have decided to invest in this PPD plant.  Our technology is highly ecologic and environmentally respectful.  Our PPD technology is an innovative solution that provides benefits to our customers, a more efficient production process, the best quality possible and idle times reduction,” he said.

 

Nathan Olds, general America regional director of Oerlikon, said that the firm is leader in the market with 110 plants in 35 countries, where they develop technology that uses a combination of hydrogen and nitrogen for surface layers protection of injection and stamping molds, they do not use chemical substances, therefore it is ecologically friendly.

 

“Within our regional strategy Mexico is a very important country.  We are proud of having strong presence in Mexico with this plant in Queretaro and our factory in Saltillo, which has continue growing,” he said.

 

He referred that this new plant in Queretaro will allow them grow Oerlikon Balzers business, offer more surface solutions and higher capability to their customers.

 

During his speech, Francisco Dominguez, governor of Queretaro, assured that the entity evolves with the conviction of competing with the best they have and achieve the greatest of the world arrive in Queretaro, since it is an entrance door to the most competitive regions in the country, as well as to North American markets.

 

He noted that the entity has kept within the route of industrial specialization, evolving from manufacture to mindfacture with an effective linkage among industry, academy and government, united to promote a knowledge economy.

 

In the startup of the second Oerlikon plant, the state executive said that the entity’s outlook is encouraging, therefore it will continue supporting industries growth: aeronautical, automotive and of food, in best industrial solutions.

 

Confidence invested in Queretaro provides results, mainly, because they have found here the talent required to develop PPD technology (Pulsed Plasma Diffusion) unique in Latin America, which is environmental friendly.

Together with Swiss ambassador, the governor received a recognition from the president of Oerlikon Balzers Soluciones Industriales Business Unit, whereupon the plant opening ribbon cutting located at Aeropuerto Industrial Park, in the municipality of Colon.
