With the objective to continue improving the service on Queretaro Intercontinental Airport (AIQ) the German company Man Truck & Bus, together with the Ministry of Sustainable Development (SEDESU) held the delivery of two shuttle buses for safe transportation of passengers inside the airport platform.
Leandro Radomile, general director of Man Truck & Bus, said that MAN has one plant in Queretaro which is supplied of German goods through AIQ, which is convenient in addition of allowing its work team traveling to the rest of the Country.
Concerning shuttle buses, he explained that those are special pneumatic suspension vehicles with an automatic kneeling system and transmission suitable for airport operations. In addition, they have the capability for more than 100 passengers which in a single trip could cover the capability of a small airplane.
Likewise, he said that MAN has been investing in Queretaro for fifteen years, therefore in addition of business, they have also had an approach with the State Government on social issues: “We are open to participating in tenders; hopefully, we will achieve more units in the future. If airport follow-up grows, it could be an interesting market niche,” he said.
It is important to remember that MAN Truck & Bus recently opened a second assembly line in the State that produces chassis of MAN buses with Euro EEV technology, with an investment of 33 million pesos and that generated 300 jobs.
AIRPORT AS DEVELOPMENT AGENT
Queretaro Intercontinental Airport has actively participated in the economic growth of the State through the improvement of its services, the expansion of national and international connectivity, as well as in cargo operations transported every day, said AIQ general director, Jesus Arredondo Vazquez.
Today, AIQ works with different strategies as skills promotion and airport offer, and the modernization of the infrastructure system for users. This time, MAN shuttle buses represent a complement to the modernization of the property, which up to now consists in the expansion of the platform and the installation of telescopic hallways, all this with an investment of more than 220 million pesos, he said.
Marco del Prete Tercero, head of SEDESU, said that the acquisition of shuttle buses obeys to passengers request who had the need to get on board in remote positions that could not connect with telescopic hallways, that is why a first class and of quality service will be provided to offer comfort to those transporting their baggage with them, strollers, children or have any motor disability to walk.
Although there are still details that continue to be taken care of, he explained, airport works punctually and represents one of the most important strategic goods in the state of Queretaro. This investment is the result of the association among MAN Truck & Bus, the State Government and AIQ Administration.
He thanked MAN confidence, airlines, and Federal Police and Mexican Army bodies in charge of passengers’ security. Likewise, he congratulated the Airport which already has the third place in cargo number, while passengers flow has increased 19 %, one of the fastest growing in the country.
MAN Truck & Bus has fifteen years of presence in the Mexican market with MAN and Volkswagen Camiones y Autobuses offering advanced technology in engines and innovation in operator safety. More of 16 Volkswagen models are assembled in the plant settled in Queretaro certified with USO 9000 VDA 6.3 in addition of OHSAS certification, a system focused on safety and occupational health.
