At the facilities of Hotel Fiesta Americana, was held the magister conference “Mexico, world power’” lectured by Erick Guerrero Rosas, finance advisor in TV Azteca, which was sponsored by Unifin for CANACINTRA Queretaro members.

Guerrero Rosas, who has been quite right in different economic forecasts, explained that the objective of his talk was to exhibit a general outlook of the sexennial led by Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, with its risks and opportunities, providing useful information for decision making of Queretaro businessmen.

Since businessmen and women depend on forecasts, he explained that this kind of exercise is important not to see where the economy is today, but where it could be tomorrow, by anticipating the market trends and elaborate a correct diagnosis of the economic situation of Mexico and the world.

“Within the business sector, my impression is that a strong uncertainty is being lived: businessmen are afraid of what could come,” said Erick Guerrero.

One of the strongest points is to understand that the next two years will be hard times, but as of the second part of the sexennial the economy will turnaround and the country will likely be reaching a 4 % growth.  This said the analyst, due to the NAFTA renegotiation, with it a historic amount of investment will flow in oil, fuel, natural gas, petrochemical, electricity, and alternative energies.  Besides, with the enforcing of the TPP-11 and the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico and the European Union, a radical change is anticipated within the economic model.

Also, other internal works are highlighted such as the National Infrastructure Program, the ending of the North and South Commercial Corridor, and the expansion of all ports.  “With this infrastructure works, privileged geographic position, agreements and free trade agreements with the main world economies,” Mexico will be the emerging economy with the greatest benefits, it will continue to be attractive for investors and could reach an important growth rate.  But, he warns, that we must be prepared for 2019 and 2020, take into account the finance turbulence related to the enforcement of tariffs, the process of USMCA approval and the potential degradation of PEMEX from international raters.

Therefore, he was confident that the decisions the president will be taking are the correct ones for the sake of all citizens and Mexican businessmen.  At the event, the attendees were able to share ideas with the speaker and solve doubts about world economic policies.
