Automotive sector suppliers gather in Nuevo Leon


The Automotive Cluster of Nuevo Leon (CLAUT) organized the event Automotive Supplier 2017, on September 20th and 21st, one of the most emblematic CLAUT forums which are celebrated each year since 2011 and that has as an objective promoting the national integration of the supply chain and strength the economic development of the area.

The forum is fulfilled with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Labor of the State Government (SEDET, by its Spanish initials) and on this time it had the participation of special guests as Manuel Valdez, director of Sisamex and president of the Tier1 committee; Francisco Martinez, Kentek and president of the Committee Tier2; and Luis Ochoa, Tier2 coordinator and director of Automotive Supplier 2017.

Fernando Turner Davila, secretary of Economy and Labor in the State, mentioned during the opening of the event that the industrial sector in Nuevo Leon is exporting more than 35 billion dollars, exceeding by 11 billion dollars to products imported to other countries.

“Some of these imported products could also be manufactured here, but the conditions required to level production costs in other countries are not yet available.  Having these events that encourage the synergy and understanding of the different productive chains in the industrial sector will help that gradually we stop importing some of these products and start finding the way of manufacturing them here in the State,” he added.

According to CLAUT statistics, only in the automotive sector of Nuevo Leon exportations will exceed 12 billion dollars in 2017 and it is expected that this growing rhythm remains during 2018.

The event had also a conferences cycle among which highlighted “Challenges and opportunities of doing business in Mexico,” “B2B Marketing” and “Negotiation to create value and transcend,” this last one lectured by Dr. Habib Chamoun-Nicholas, expert in negotiation and international lecturer.

Among other things, Habib Chamoun-Nicholas, advised entrepreneurs of the automotive sector to know when to stop a good negotiation, since some times to try to get the greatest economic advantage possible can fracture some commercial relations, which in long term can be harmful.


Commercial Relations


Once the lectures cycle concludes, a series of business tables started which remained until finishing the event, with a total of 520 business meetings in which 25 buying companies participated and 220 supplying companies.

Through Automotive Supplier 2017, CLAUT was focused in gather together assembler companies and Tier 1 of the automotive industry with potential supplying companies to generate new business opportunities, seeking to increase national integration and promote sector importing substitutions.

The forum had more than 450 participants and 42 exhibit companies, mostly from Nuevo Leon, but also from some other states of the Mexican Republic.
