With a total investment of 5 million dollars and the generation of 100 direct Jobs, the automotive Swiss company Komax arrived to the state of Guanajuato.
It is anticipated A 50 % growth more than the original investment. The company will be producing equipment and electro mechanic systems to fulfill the tests in automotive and non-automotive harnesses.
Regarding this, Exiquio Garcia, general manager at Komax Mexico, mentioned that two product lines are currently managed, in one of them products arrive from abroad and are marketed through Komax, in the second product line electric testers are made for the harnesses and its largest clients are Delphi, Condumex, Lear, Sumitomo, Fujikura, Kromberg & Schubert, among others.
“They produce harnesses and we sell them all the equipment they require for its manufacturing.”
In terms of manufacture volume, he mentioned that 3 million sales in profits will be registered in 2018, this means, approximately 1,200 modules of electric testing and 60 months of tests.
“The expectation is that in two years we will duplicate what is forecasted for next year in terms of pieces; some countries in Central America or South America are supplied with our products; as most of the harnesses industry is in Mexico and South America.”
Komax is a public Swiss company founded in 1975 with presence in Germany, U.S.A., Japan, France, China, Tunisia, Turkey, Mexico and Honduras; currently it globally has 1,300 employees.
Jobs in this company are highly specialized, since it requires engineers and technicians specialized in electronics, mechanics, and mechatronics with important skills in the management of design and computer assisted manufacturing and machining operations with numeric control centers.

Concerning the decision of being installed in the State, he mentioned that it was due to the synergy between entrepreneurs, society and Government in addition of finding the best competitive advantages regarding roads and airport infrastructure.
“We visit five different States and finally Guanajuato was the state and especially Irapuato was the location that had the requirements to make this investment due to its proximity with the main connections with the main roads in other States.”
The company is settled on a property land of 5,000 m2, the built surface is of 3,000 m2, thus there are possibilities of expansion in a two or three years term and the increase of product lines.
Likewise, Franco Herrera Sanchez, undersecretary of investments attraction from the Ministry of Sustainable Economic Development (SDES, by its Spanish initials) noted that with the settlement of this company consolidates and complements even more the automotive supply network the state of Guanajuato has.
