Hannover Messe 2018 industrial fair was inaugurated in Germany
Mexico is the first Germany’s commercial partner in Latin America, the commercial volume increased to more than 20,000 million euros in 2017, what represents an increase of 25 %, said Angela Merkel, Germany chancellor, at the opening ceremony of the Hannover Messe 2018 Fair.
“We are not only good commercial partners, but also good investment partners,” Merkel said.
According to data from the Ministry of Economy, by the end of 2017, Mexico recorded the arrival of 2,385.8 million dollars per German investment concept.
The opening ceremony was attended by the directors of the main industrial companies and international politicians.
Mexico is the first Spanish speaking country invited to participate at the fair, which is held from April 23rd to 27th in Hannover, Germany.
Approximately 6,500 companies from 70 countries will be showing their products, among them, about 120 companies and Mexican institutions, 11 research and development centers, a delegation of entrepreneurs and 18 States.
Choosing Mexico as partner country reflects the confidence the German and international industry has in the country.
“Its integration in the global market makes Mexico a good location and site for the industry of German companies, mainly, for the automotive, pharmaceutical, logistics and chemical sectors,” Merkel said.
She mentioned that Mexico and Germany will be signing an agreement on cooperation in industry 4.0 matters.
“It is good news for all those interested in the expansion of our cooperation in the upcoming years,” she said.

The objective of Mexico’s participation is to promote Mexican talent as strength to turn the country in a center of innovation, research and development.
On his speech, Enrique Pena Nieto, president of Mexico, said that Mexico’s commercial negotiation teams and from the European Union closed an agreement for the update of the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico and the European Union.
According to the leader, the update of this agreement expands the markets and consolidates Mexico as priority partner of one of the most important economic blocks worldwide.
“With 12 free trade agreements that grant us access to markets from 46 countries and 32 agreements, Mexico has one of the economies that is most integrated into the world,” he said.
He added that Mexican exports added about 410,000 million dollars in 2017 and said that the automotive industry, of which Mexico is the world’s seventh producer and the fourth exporter, is an example of the country’s industrial profile.
“It is anticipated that in 2020 the vehicles production in Mexico will be reaching 5 million units per year and 90 % will be of export,” he noted.
